In Wolkersdorf, the non-profit cooperative Alpenland is implementing an innovative residential building with 8 units. The building will be equipped with thermal activated components and a prognosis-based control concept developed in the TAB-Scale 3 project.
The research project, which is funded by the Niederösterreichischen Wohnbauforschung, also investigates hygienic safe water heating with cascaded heat pumps.
The research project compares centralized and decentralized water heating methods. The central elements are cascaded heat pumps that use the thermally activated ceiling as a heat source throughout the year. In this way, the heat pump can prepare hot water with a high efficiency overall the year, since the temperature level of the heat source is between 18°C and 28°C.
For the primary heating energy supply, different energy sources (district heating, air/water heat pump, brine/water heat pump with ground probes) are compared techno-economically.
The project is carried out in cooperation with Alpenland Gemeinnützige Bau-, Wohn- und Siedlungsgenossenschaft, Treberspurg & Partner Architekten ZT GesmbH and the University of Innsbruck - Unit for Energy Efficient Building and will run until the end of 2023.
