Key duties: 1. Strategically and operationally lead the CDR
2. Advance and lead the research agenda of the CDR
3. In line with the statutes and in cooperation with the steering group, support CDR's partner community at the university
4. Acquire and manage third-party-funded projects in close cooperation with partner universities, the NARS, NGOs and the CGIAR in Africa, Asia, and Latin America
5. Publish research results in SCI / SSCI-ranked journals
6. Offer development research to under- and post-graduate students
7. Translate research results into practical recommendations for political and civil society decision-makers
8. Coordinate and promote knowledge circulation between scientists at the university, and among non-university partners
9. Participate in community services; represent development research at the university and in public
10. Lead the development of an interdisciplinary team of scientists, chair internal meetings and public events
Qualifications
- Doctorate in agricultural sciences, forestry, water management, geographical development research or development studies
- Working experience in development research / countries of the Global South
- Experience in the acquisition and management of research projects and projects teams
- Excellent academic and popular scientific communication skills (lectures, peer reviewed publications in journals) in German and English
- Skills: systemic and strategic thinking, relationship management, leadership, diplomacy, result-orientation
RESEARCHER PROFILE: Recognised Researcher (R2) – doctorate and several years of experience in development research
