International Bachelor Summer School for Climate Change Research
“Confronting Climate Change – from Science to Policy”
When: 5 – 16 August 2019
Content: The latest report published by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change states that “climate change is clear” – a conclusion that was accepted and agreed upon by each participating government. This global and highly complex challenge can best be understood and addressed by adopting an interdisciplinary perspective. The Summer School comprises keynote lecture; workshops in small groups and a simulation of a multilateral climate conference. A field trip to the high altitude research station Jungfraujoch (3500 m a.s.l.) will provide insights into latest measurement technologies, as well as to the impacts of climate change.
Aimed at: Bachelor students (in or after their second year) from natural/climate sciences, economics, social or political sciences, law.

Improving health at the interfaces between environment, plants, animals and humans
When: 26-30 August 2019
Content: Explore health connections along the terrestrial food chain and learn about the key role which microbes play in both causing disease and providing health benefits through visiting different food production systems in Switzerland and One Health research laboratories. Challenge-based learning will enable participants to use their own skills to find potential solutions to some of the most pressing problems of the future.
Aimed at: Bachelor students (third year) and masters` students (first year) from natural sciences, medicine and veterinary medicine.
