GCUA Thesis of the Year Award
The Global Challenges University Alliance (GCUA 2030) has established this award to encourage high quality research of relevance for sustainable global development.
GCUA 2030 is a network of university partners from across the globe, representing different disciplines and with a key objective to equip the next generation of researchers, teachers and academic leaders with knowledge, tools and networks that will strengthen their capacity to work across disciplines and conduct translational research.
- The prize sum is 4000 EUR for the winner and 1000 EUR for the second place. The prize winners will be given the opportunity to present their research in a GCUA 2030 webinar.
- Eligible candidates are PhD students or those who defended their thesis in 2020 at one of the GCUA 2030 member universities.
- BOKU can nominate up to three candidates for the prize.
Please note: The thesis does not have to focus on the SDGs in particular or have the SDGs in the title. It could be research on (almost!) anything but the candidates should elaborate on/find linkages between the objective of their thesis and sustainable development. Even if students have been performing research within a very specific area, the thesis is probably contributing to sustainable development somehow (even if the connection might not always be obvious when standing in the lab studying an enzyme etc).
Deadline for submission of nominations: 30 September 2021
