Today! The Role of Agricultural Research and Innovation on Food Systems

This side event of the UN Food Systems Summit 2021 aims to call attention to the role of agricultural research and innovation in the food systems transformation. Farming systems need to adapt to climate change, sustain soil and biodiversity and produce healthy and affordable food. This transformation can only happen with the collaboration of all food system actors. Transdisciplinary research needs to be central to boost this transformation of the food system. Good practices and principles will be discussed based on successful cases of transdisciplinary research that resulted from examples of Africa-EU cooperation in this field, as well as recommendations for a long-term strategy for research and innovation.
