5th Education Summit

on 1 December, 9.30am-6pm, online event

The Summit puts youth and education centre stage, giving our #BrightYoungMinds the opportunity to contribute to shaping the future direction of education and training in Europe.

What role can education play in making the European Green Deal a reality? How can we ensure young people are equipped with the green and digital skills needed in the 21st century to thrive and innovate in a sustainable way? And equally as important, how to implement the European strategy for universities in synergy with the new European Innovation Agenda?

The #EduSummitEU will tackle these and other education issues in high-level panels featuring Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth and Margaritis Schinas, European Commission Vice-President, Promoting our European Way of Life.

A dedicated higher education high level panel (1.15pm-2.10pm) will look into how higher education institutions, students, staff and academics, as well as Member States and the European level are now joining forces to reach the ambition of the European Strategy for Universities. The focus will be on innovation and on the ways education and research can bring value into the society through enhanced transnational cooperation. Commissioner Gabriel will set the scene and exchange with Ministers from Portugal, France and Belgium, the chair of the CULT Committee in the European Parliament, and two Rectors from Universities of Warsaw and Salamanca as members of the European Network of Innovative Higher Education Institutions who will present their recommendations for driving innovation through education and research in Europe.
