Lecture of our visiting professor Samantha Jamson
We hereby cordially invite you to the lecture of our visiting professor Samantha Jamson on Wednesday, 26.4. at 15:30 in the Ilse-Wallentin-Haus, SR 25.
The title of the talk is
"What affects a driver's trust in automation? A methodology using objective and subjective measures"
Abstract:
This presentation will provide some of the results of the Trustonomy project, which aimed to discover in which situations trust in vehicle automation can reduce and increase. A simulator experiment explored the main factors which can affectdriver trust while interacting with an automated vehicle, as played out in a Request to Intervene scenario – whereby a driver is required to take control of the vehicle after a period of automated driving. The rationale for the study rests on the working hypothesisthat trust plays an important role in acceptance, and that whilst trust is a personality trait, it can also be modified through exposure and experience.
Short bio:
Samantha (short: Sam) Jamson is a leading international transport researcher specializing in road safety and driving/traffic behavior and Research Director at the Institute for Transport Studies, Leeds. With twenty years of experience in the field, she has worked on a wide range of research projects using driving simulators and instrumented vehicles, among others. Her expertise is therefore interesting both from the point of view of behavioral research and the design of simulator experiments. In her talk, she will present her recent research approaches and results in the area of vehicle automation.
