How to support multilingual international students in the classroom
Multilingual students face unique challenges that impede their participation and communication in their studies, but instructors can take steps to make them feel welcome. Being aware of different cultural behaviours, e.g., in terms of participation and communication, different perceptions of plagiarism, or awareness that students with a different first language often simply lack contextual knowledge such as idioms or local phrases, strengthens teachers' cultural sensitivity.
The BOKU eLearning Intercultural Competence course is aimed at all BOKU students and staff members who want to acquire intercultural competences or enhance their intercultural competences. As a BOKU teacher, you can use the course at any time in your classes. Please download a slide with a short description of the course and the access code for students, see link on website
