Challenges and Limits: Rural Women's Right to Access to Land

The KoEF-funded project Rural Women’s Right to Access to Land in North-West Ethiopia brought together researchers from BOKU University and Debre Markos University to examine why legal land rights often fail to translate into real access for rural women. Through fieldwork, legal analysis and stakeholder dialogue, the project identified barriers rooted in customary practices and developed recommendations to strengthen women’s land rights and gender equality. It also laid the foundation for continued Austrian-Ethiopian research cooperation.
