Commission adopts a first-ever EU Visa Strategy

The European Commission has presented its first EU visa strategy. Its aim is to strengthen security and competitiveness in Europe through the use of digital tools and extensive information exchange. The visa strategy proposes possible visa exemptions for travelers from partner countries, simplified and more digitalised procedures, longer-valid multiple-entry visas for trustworthy business travelers, and shorter decision-making periods for visas and residence permits. Responsibility for implementation lies with the Member States.
