On 25 September 2019 the SCALINGS energy team meets at BOKU Law Vienna. Michael Fürmann, teaching and research associate at BOKU Law and member of the SCALINGS consortium, will present on the ‘Clean Energy for all Europeans Package’ and its effects on community-based virtual power plants. The newly introduced citizen and renewable energy communities facilitate collaborative energy production by local communities. Their transposition into national law is, however, still pending.

SCALINGS is an interdisciplinary European research project that explores potentials and limits of co-creation processes all across Europe. The term co-creation process refers to a situation where a diversity of actors come together in an innovation activity for mutual benefits. Within the framework of SCALINGS, the BOKU Institute of Law cooperates with 9 partner universities in 8 European countries. Our SCALINGS-team analyses case studies in the areas of urban energy and robotics to determine the legal challenges those pioneer projects face.
The project is funded by the European Commission within the research and innovation program Horizon 2020.
