Oscar García studied at the National University of Colombia and received his bachelor degree in Pharmacy in 2013. For his bachelor thesis he studied the release of bisphosphonate compounds from polyelectrolytic matrixes and continued in the same university to receive a Master Degree in Process Engineering with a thesis on Quality by Design (QbD) for biopharmaceutical industries. During his masters, he conducted an internship at the Technical University Vienna Wien focusing on the mechanistic modelling of filamentous fungi and the application of Soft Systems Methodology for upstream development.
After finishing his master’s degree, he worked for 4 years in pharmaceutical companies in the R&D and quality assurance areas, then he moved to Vienna to work as a University Assistant, modelling the growth and functionality of natural killer cells and the monoclonal antibody production from chinese hamster ovary cell lines in stirred tank bioreactors. In 2022 he joined the ICTCT at BOKU University. His main focus is the development of microgels for the 3D culture of mesenchymal stem cells and its application to bioreactor systems.
