The construction sector has a significant impact on environmental issues and climate change as it responsible for more than one third of carbon dioxide emissions worldwide that come together with a massive material consumption rate. Heading into a more eco-friendly direction the material selection as well as yield rates of the needed material need to be improved without neglecting socio-economical boundary conditions.

Within this PHD programme a new additive manufacturing method for construction (AMC) will be implemented allowing to produce fully recyclable walls for buildings with a biobased material, mainly consisting of the secondary stream products wood particles and lignin as well as starch. For a maximum of flexibility a industrial 6-axis robot system is used to perform the AMC either onside or in a prefabrication strategy.
