Robot lab visit

Representatives from the Bridge Construction Department of ÖBB and Asfinag visited us at the Robotics Laboratory in Groß Enzersdorf. Following an introduction to the diverse research topics at IHB by Prof. Benjamin Kromoser, Mathias Hammerl presented the applicability of non-metallic reinforcements.

Based on his research on "Slim Concrete Slab Elements Made of Prestressed Carbon-Reinforced High-Strength Concrete," he demonstrated the need for prototypes to establish the promising material combination of fiber-reinforced polymer reinforcement and concrete.

To conclude the visit, Peter Gappmaier demonstrated how to use an industrial robot to set flexible formwork. In addition to pastries and coffee, our guests also had the opportunity to get hands-on experience and operate the robot themselves.
