The climate crisis and its images

The climate crisis affects everyone, but it affects people very differently. This is not always apparent in media coverage; on the contrary, the experiences of marginalized people often remain invisible, while Eurocentric perspectives set the tone.

The workshop invites participants to question their own assumptions and recognize how racist and discriminatory patterns of thinking are reproduced in reporting on the climate crisis.

In the second part, we turn to climate fiction: What futures are being imagined in literature and what perspectives are missing? In a creative writing exercise, we develop our own stories that reflect diversity and empower us, giving us courage and hope.

The D!SRUPT association offers workshops, training courses, and counseling in the areas of anti-discrimination and civil courage. A particular focus is on work in the context of the Austrian education system. In free workshops for school classes, students across Austria can learn more about anti-racism, empowerment, media literacy, and climate justice. D!SRUPT Verein also offers educational formats for teachers, educators, and universities. Instagram: @disrupt_verein
