Boden-Kinotag 2021

„Alles Beton – Von welchen Äckern sollen unsere Kinder essen“

18:30 ‐ 21:00

  • Podiumsdiskussion

Webinar "Digital Patents" for BOKU researchers by Prof. Alexander Wurzer (IP Business Academy)

09:00 ‐ 10:30

  • Seminar

The number of patent applications at the EPO (European Patent Office) grew in the last 5 year from 160.000 to more than 180.000 in all technical fields. In some fields like biotechnology they increased even stronger from 5.477 to 7.246 patent applications between 2016 and 2020. In the field of digital patents, the growth is even greater. Therefore, it is important to understand what digital patents are and how they can be used to protect new digital solutions, often based on academic research. These questions will be answered in the webinar by Prof. Wurzer.

ETHICS in ANIMAL RESEARCH at BOKU

What to consider, why, when and where

17:00 ‐ 19:15

  • Vortragsreihe

Talks & discussion
Everyone involved in non-human animal research has the responsibility to minimise the harms the animals they are working with may experience. Funding bodies and journals increasingly request a formal ethics approval to be included when submitting grant proposals or manuscripts. Last year, BOKU established an Ethics Committee, which reviews ethical aspects of project proposals and issues such formal ethics approval statements.
