The advanced training can be credited within the framework of the Basiszertifikat Hochschullehre - Basic Didactics Certificate (*BZH) for MODUL 3 "Didactic Key Areas".

ATTENTION: This course has already been offered in German - "Digital unterstützte Präsenzlehre - Warum, womit & wie?".

Objectives:

Gathering prior knowledge, activating students, or facilitating group work – these are just three examples of teaching activities that can greatly benefit from the use of digital tools in face-to-face teaching. In this workshop, participants will be introduced to pedagogical methods suitable for making their own teaching – in both small and large groups – more interactive, collaborative, and potentially even more efficient with the support of digital technologies. Aligned with the digital tools available at BOKU (including Particify and activities in BOKUlearn), as well as browser-based free tools, this workshop focuses on different activation formats, online collaboration tools, digital options for collecting feedback, and classroom management. Participants will learn about various tools and their pedagogical applications and will receive good-practice examples that they can adapt and transfer to their own teaching and learning settings.

Content:

Pedagogical principles for the use of digital tools in higher education
Digitally supported engagement and collaboration methods in face-to-face teaching
Digital tools for lecture settings – the new BOKUvote
Tips and tricks for using digital tools in practice & examples of good practice
Digital tools available at BOKU – BOKUlearn and other free browser-based tools
Identifying opportunities and pitfalls in the use of digital media

Methods:

 short inputs on the pedagocially motivated use of digital tools in face-to-face teaching, hands-on testing of various digital activities and tools, and critical reflection on participants’ own pedagocial concepts (including collegial/peer feedback).
 

Maximum group size: 12 Participant

The training will take place  in presence in seminar room  Cieslar Haus EG (SR 01 / CIES).

MMag.a Dr.in Simone Adams
has been teaching and conducting research in Europe and the USA for 14 years in the fields of diversity, intersectionality, gender studies and critical race studies. She works as a freelance trainer specialising in these topics, currently heads the Department of Media Education at the Centre for Digital Teaching and Learning at the University of Graz, and is a regular guest lecturer at Austrian universities
