In his PhD, Olivier is investigating rare earth demand for the energy transition until 2050. After modelling global material flows along the supply chain from mining to applications like wind turbines and electric vehicles, he uses the insights to assess possible geopolitical, social and environmental impacts, benefits and inequality.
