Katharina’s PhD research investigates the cultural and political dimensions of Austria’s forest industrialisation during the long 19th century. As part of the INFEST project (The Industrialisation of Austrian Forests, 1766–1914), her work critically examines how state interventions, such as the Waldordnung von 1766 and the 1852 Forstgesetz, reshaped cultural narratives and material practices of forest management among policymakers, landowners, and scientific experts.
