The BOKU Core Facility Multiscale Imaging (BCF MSI, or MSI shortly) is the successor of the BOKU-VIBT Imaging Center, the oldest core facility of the university. It was established as a pioneer research platform in 2010, offering, form the very beginning, open access to various high-end microscopes to all students, research staff and professors independent of their affiliation. Non-BOKU users, too are very welcome!

The current facility harbours ten microscopes of various kinds. While all of them are light microscopes, they belong to four different groups according to their hardware components and relevant applications: wide-field fluorescence microscopes; confocal laser scanning microscopes; label free, chemical imaging microscopes; and a laser micro-dissection microscope. Technical details can be found in the menu: Equipment.

The facility offers training for all microscopes, access to dedicated software for image analysis, and co-operation in research projects.
