The BOKU Core Facility Multiscale Imaging (BCF MSI, or MSI shortly) is the successor of the BOKU-VIBT Imaging Center, the oldest core facility of the university. It was established as a pioneer research platform in 2010, offering, form the very beginning, open access to various high-end microscopes to all students, research staff and professors independent of their affiliation. Non-BOKU users, too are very welcome!
The current facility harbours eight microscopes of various kind. Although all of them are light microscopes, according to their hardware components and relevant application fields they belong to four different groups: wide-field fluorescence microscopes, confocal laser scanning microscopes, label free, chemical imaging microscopes, and a laser micro-dissection microscope is also part of the equipment. Technical details can be found in the menu: Equipment.
The facility offers training for all the microscopes, access to dedicated soft-wares for image analysis, and co-operation in research projects.
