On 27th of May 2026 the employees of the Institute of Engineering Biology and Landscaping took part in the peaceful demonstration against the impending underfunding of universities. The Rectorate of BOKU University and the Department have expressly called for participation in it. The start was at 1:00 p.m. in front of the University of Vienna, with the demonstration march then moving on to Ballhausplatz for the final rally. The participants wanted to send a peaceful, but at the same time clear signal against the planned budget cuts as of 2028. It remains to be seen whether participation in the demonstration against the economy measure plans will bring about a rethink on the part of the decision-makers.
