In the last years the sector of large wood constructions, such as bridges and factory buildings, has been extended by multi-storey buildings. In general wood has become an accepted emancipated building material. Impressive wood constructions have been built in the last years, but reality on the construction site seems to be different quite often. The target of this year´s zukunftsforumholz (wood think tank) was to analyze this ambivalence between impressive achievements, visionary plans for the future and the reality of the management of building sites. Much of the current knowledge about large building of wood has been established in the last years. But new knowledge, experience and the complexity of the material wood have not yet be linked to each other properly. The current issue of LIGNOVISIONEN discusses knowledge deficiencies, highlights some exceptional approaches in timer construction and provides some recommendations for the future work.
