Book "Riverine ecosystem management" reaches 500.000 Downloads

The BOKU textbook "Riverine ecosystem management - Science for Governing Towards a Sustainable Future", published three years ago by Springer as Open Access, achieved more than 500 000 downloads by March 2021.

"Greening the Gas" put to the test

Researchers from the Vienna University of Technology and the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences will lecture and discuss 'Greening the Gas put to the test' on March 23, 2021. Lectures on 'Green Gas in the Natural Gas Grid' and the 'Underground Sun Conversion' will be followed by considerations from energy system planning and energy space planning perspectives.

Research on lignin and biorefineries on the cover of "ChemSusChem"

BOKU researchers from the Institute of Chemistry of Renewable Resources discuss recent trends in lignin utilization and resulting biorefinery concepts in an article that was ranked as a "very important paper" and also made it to the cover of the journal "ChemSusChem". The results come from a long-standing collaboration with research groups in Finland and Canada.

Felix Schottroff, former PhD student at the Institute of Food Technology, was honored for his research on electric field applications in food processing.

Every two years there are Student Union elections. Students can vote their representation on the national, school and study programm levels. The elections will take place 18.-20. May 2021.

Two special issues released with contributions from the Symposium “Riverine landscapes as socio-ecological systems”

The high interest in the 6th Symposium of the International Society for River Science, which was held at BOKU in September 2019, has finally resulted in the release of two special issues, containing numerous high-quality publications from all over the world. Among those, several scientists of BOKU have published their research regarding the protection and management of riverine landscapes.

The sound of rivers - a trigger for riverine biota?

The Institute of Hydrobiology and Aquatic Ecosystem Management (IHG) has been awarded one of 24 grants in the frame of the FWF's 1000 IDEAS PROGRAMME for the research project "The sound of rivers - a trigger for riverine biota?" where 400 particularly innovative research ideas beyond current scientific understanding were evaluated.
