The BOKU Spin-off TAmiRNA develops biomarker solutions which significantly improve early detection of serious age-related ilnesses. Now the company presents osteomiR (TM) - a unique molecular diagnostic kit für the detection of osteoporosis.

Dr. Dipl.Ing. Katharina Lapin from the Institute of Botany of the Department of Integrative Biology and Biodiversity Research (DIB) has been awarded with the Young Scientist Award for her talk at the at the 3rd International Conference Water resources and wetlands, Tulcea, SEPT 8-10, 2016.

ÖGMBT Research Price 2016

Daniel Kracher was awarded the ÖGMBT Research Price 2016 in the field of biotechnology in recognition for his outstanding research on fungal biomass degradation. The work performed together with co-author Stefan Scheiblbrandner was published in Science recently.

Ing. DI Anatol Schmidt from the Food Chemistry Laboratory of the Department of Food Science and Technology was nominated for the best poster award at the 31st International Symposium on Chromatography in Cork.

International conference for research on molecular plant

The BOKU organizes together with the Gregor Mendel Institute and the University Vienna the 10th Tri-National Arabidopsis Meeting from September 14th – 16th. Conceptually, the meeting was intended to provide a forum for Austrian, German and Swiss plant scientists. Meantime this conference grew into a truly European conference on molecular plant biology. Registration is open until filled.

EFI Annual Conference 2016

22.-24. September

This year the EFI Annual Conference takes place at BOKU in Vienna from 22. to 24. September. Co-organized by the European Forest Institute Central-East European Regional Office (EFICEEC) which is hosted at BOKU.

EGU "Outstanding Student Poster and PICO" award 2016

Dr. Miguel Angel Cabrera has been awarded with one of the EGU "Outstanding Student Poster and PICO"-awards 2016 for his poster "Monodisperse granular flows in viscous dispersions in a centrifugal acceleration field". After his promotion at the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering this year, Dr. Cabrera was offered a tenure track position as assistant professor at the Universidad de los Andes, Bogota, Columbia.
