LTS with Professor Claudia Müller-Birn

Professor Claudia Müller-Birn, Free University of Berlin, will be giving a lecture on "Bringing the human to the center of algorithmic systems design: challenges and opportunities" as part of the LunchTimeSeries on Law, Technology and Society (LTS). The lecture will take place at Guttenberghaus (Ground floor, meeting Seminar Room SR 02) on 17 May 2019 from 12.00 - 1.30 pm. The event is open to all and participation is free of charge. Please register in advance at: law(at)boku.ac.at until 15 May 2019 as lunch will be provided.

The LTS LunchTimeSeries on Law, Technology and Society enters into the Summer term 2019! The series will start on 17 May 2019 with a lecture by Professor Claudia Müller-Birn, Freie Universität Berlin. Lectures by Professor Sebastian Pfotenhauer, Technical University Munich, on the 12 June 2019 and by Dr Jack Stilgoe, University College London (UCL), on the 27 June 2019 will follow. "Environmental Histories of the First World War" wins Distinguished Book Award

One of this year's winners of the Distinguished Book Awards of the Society of Military History is "Environmental Histories of the First World War", edited by Tucker, R.P., Keller, T., McNeill, J.R. and Schmid, M.

Martin Schmid is associate professor for environmental history at the Institute of Social Ecology, Department of Economics and Social Sciences (BOKU).

Energy Globe Award Lower Austria, category "air"

goes to wood scientists from BOKU and the Wood Competence Center

Roman Myna, Rupert Wimmer (both wood technology), Falk Liebner (chemistry of renewable resources), Stephan Frömel-Frybort (wood competence center), and the company General Laser, received the this year’s Energy Globe Award Lower Austria, category "air", for their project "Dustfree- the new tribowood-technology for less wood-fine dust".
