We're excited to give you a behind-the-scenes look at the innovative experiments conducted by Peter Gappmaier as part of his PhD research, titled “Automated Production Processes for Structurally-Optimised Concrete Elements.”

His work is embedded in the AUTOMCONCRETE I+II research project (Automated Design and Production of Structurally Optimised Precast Concrete Elements), funded by Umdasch Group Ventures, Holcim Ltd., and Kirchdorfer Concrete Solutions.

At the Robot Lab in Groß-Enzersdorf, Peter explored the possibilities of robot-assisted concrete fabrication, combining advanced robotic processes with high-precision scan data from the DD&DC Lab . This allowed for detailed analysis and quality control throughout the production process.

Peter is currently finalising his second scientific publication and actively working on his third — stay tuned, there’s a lot more to come from this promising research!
