Midterm presentation Zukunft Lehm
The project consortium recently gathered in Hollabrunn for the successful midterm presentation of the research project “Earth Construction of the Future”. The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to present the first project results, discuss ongoing developments, and define the next steps for the coming project phase.
The project, carried out in collaboration between the IGCE and the Institute of Soil Research at BOKU University, investigates the potential of excavation material from the City of Hollabrunn as a valuable resource for sustainable applications. The research focuses on two key objectives:
- Utilization of excavation material in earthen construction
- Restoration and improvement of agricultural land
The interdisciplinary approach aims to develop innovative strategies for keeping valuable soil resources in circulation and reducing the environmental impacts associated with material disposal and resource extraction.
The project team would like to sincerely thank the City of Hollabrunn for hosting the event, the excellent organization, and the strong interest in the project outcomes. The active exchange with local stakeholders provided valuable input for the further development of the research activities.
Special thanks also go to the Province of Lower Austria for its continued support as funding partner. Their commitment enables the advancement of innovative approaches for resource-efficient and circular construction.
The project team looks forward to the next phase of research and to further exploring the potential of excavation materials as a key resource for sustainable construction and land management.
