Building Smart with Less Material – KinderUni 2025
Why do we not build castles with meter-thick walls anymore? And how can massive timber halls and wooden skyscrapers resist wind, weather — and even earthquakes?
These were just a few of the exciting questions we explored last Friday with 16 curious young builders aged 7–9 during our KinderUni lecture at BOKU Vienna. After a fun introduction to the principles of stable and efficient structures, the kids became Junior Structural Engineers — and got hands-on right away!
Using nothing but spaghetti and marshmallows, they created amazing structures that impressed us all!
